Palm Springs for Gay Men: Mr Nude Palm Springs 1999

This is a simple pictorial report of the 1999 version of an event that occurs every Labor Day weekend in Palm Springs: The Mr Nude Palm Springs contest held at CCBC (Cathedral City Boys Club resort) in Cathedral City.

It was a great gettogether. Some 500 men had gathered on the spacious grounds, where the stage was located on the far side of the swimming pool; the audience filled the pool area and all the adjacent lawns, and some actually saw the show from inside the pool. Most were dressed in shorts or bathing suits, but a substantial amount of men were nude as is the custom at CCBC.

The contest took place on Sunday September 5 1999 and had been announced to start at 4:00 PM. Since the master of ceremonies arrived quite late, as becomes a true drag diva, the audience sat and were entertained by a court jester and music until the proceedings got underway at 6:30 PM. The result of this was that the quality of photography gradually receded with the passing daylight, something that is more than evident in the pictures.

We will see pictures of the presentation of all the dressed-up contestants, followed by their nude individual appearances, the lineup of all the nude contestants, including a rather amusing dance-on-request interlude, and the presentation of the winners -- whatever you can glean from the very dark images at the end.

It was quite an evening, and since the entrance fee allowed for 12 hours stay and reentry at CCBC, many in the audience continued to fill the resort for most of the evening and night, enjoying themselves as only gay men can do. Congratulations to the three winners, and above all to the crowned Mr Nude Palm Springs 1999!
