Palm Springs for Gay Men: Where To Find Help

There are many resources (people, organizations, businesses) around for assistance in various situations. But when you need their help (or when you want to support them) you may not always know about them, let alone locate them. In this section you find a selection of good, gay or gay-friendly people, that want you to call on them in time of need. Some of them would also highly appreciate your support when good times shine on you.

Updated 8/5/06

The list includes what we have come up with so far. More will be added when we think of it. You have probably ideas of a resource or two: e-mail us suggestions, corrections, additions. We want this page to become all inclusive, an admittedly impossible goal. But in this world, you have to aim high, and we aim to be the the place where you go first when you need help of any kind, as well as when you have a surplus dollar or a couple of surplus hands that can assist other who really need them.

SUPPORT FOR PEOPLE WITH ALCOHOL PROBLEMS GAY AA IN THE DESERT
Website: www.gayaainthedesert.com
The Sunny Dunes 5th Tradition Group (also called Gay AA in the Desert) is the local gay male Palm Springs subdivision of Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). Alcoholics Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength, and hope with each other that they will solve their common problem and help others to recover from alcoholism. The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking. There are no dues or fees for AA membership; we are self-supporting through our own contributions. AA is not allied with any sect, denomination, politics, organization, or institution; does not wish to engage in any controversy, neither endorses nor opposes any causes. Our primary purpose is to stay sober and help other alcoholics to achieve sobriety. The Group meets some 40 times a week: on weekdays morning, noon, and night, on weekends all day. Most meetings at 1555 South Palm Canyon Drive #D103. See website for details.
